Failt erriu gys Ellan Vannin – Welcome to the Isle of Man!

The Isle of Man is a beautiful island situated in the Irish Sea. Its breathtaking scenery, unspoilt beaches and a relaxed pace of life make it a great place to holiday, live and work. The Isle of Man has rightly been called an island of contrasts: it combines simplicity with sophistication; traditional and modern attractions; rolling countryside and a dramatic coastline.

The island is a British Crown dependency with its own government and parliament. Whilst the island is part of the British Isles, it’s not part of the United Kingdom or a full member of the European Union.

The Isle of Man is within easy reach of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

From the main ferry port in the islands capital of Douglas, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company operates passenger services to and from the ports of Heysham , Liverpool , Birkenhead, Dublin and Belfast.

Isle of Man Airport (Ronaldsway) is the islands gateway for travelling by air with Easyjet, Flybe, Manx 2, Blue Islands and Aer Arran operating flights to a wide choice of UK and European destinations.

The island is the proud home of the world famous Isle of Man TT races and its 37 ¾ mile ‘mountain’ course is oldest motor-cycle racing circuit still in use. Competitors travel from across the globe to compete at the TT which traces its history back to 1907.

The World Tin Bath Championship takes place on the island in the Middle Harbour, Castletown. The event has been run for many years and all the money raised from it goes to local charities.

The National Sports Centre (NSC) in Douglas offers excellent sport and leisure facilities.
