Milton Keynes

Map

Milton Keynes was designated as a new town in January 1967 and is famous for its grid road network based on the North American model, making it possible to drive from one side of Milton Keynes to the other in approximately 15 minutes.

Milton Keynes is 50 miles from London, Oxford and Cambridge and 80 miles from Birmingham with excellent transport links with the M1 motorway and A5 running alongside the city. The West Coast main line runs through Milton Keynes; approximately 100 trains a day run between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston.

Milton Keynes is an exciting and vibrant place to be. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the country with a modern theatre, extensive shopping facilities, a cinema complex and excellent sports facilities.

The shopping centre has become one of Europe’s largest and is in the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest shopping Mall in the world!

‘Xscape’, a £57 million sports and leisure complex, contains one of Europe's longest indoor real snow ski slopes, a multiplex cinema, bowling alley and shops.

Milton Keynes also has the first ‘Airkix’ skydiving centre and ‘City Limits’ is home to a huge arcade, hi-tech bowling alley and a huge array of restaurants, pubs and clubs.

A complex called ‘The Hub’ opened in 2008, the central square is surrounded by restaurants and bars with apartments above.

Milton Keynes is built around its parks. From the city centre heartland of Campbell Park to three river valley parks and the ancient woodlands, the greenery permeates the local landscape.
