Newcastle Upon Tyne, often shortened to Newcastle is situated on the north bank of the River Tyne and is the most northern city in England. Newcastle's most famous landmark is the Tyne Bridge. Opened by King George V in October 1928, it was the biggest single-span bridge in the UK.
