Rooms to let in London
London - Islington
Islington is in Zone 2 of the London Underground map, East of Kings Cross, North-West of Shoreditch and South of Highbury. By Bus it is 10 minutes from Liverpool Street and Kings Cross, 20 minutes from London Bridge. It is also on the Northern Line (city branch).
Like most of London, Islington was once rolling green fields,
hunting
grounds for Henry VIII. The area used to be the centre for dairy
farming
near London, and Islington supplied much of the capital's milk,
cheese and
butter requirements.
>
Over the 19th century the area became a popular place to spend
a night
out, with theatres and music halls being the main draw. Today,
Upper
Street is the main thoroughfare, and home to a good proportion
of
Islington's bars, shops and restaurants. The bars, restaurants,
shops and
general atmosphere make Islington one of the best locations for
a night
out in London, whether you want candlelit sophistication or absinthe
soaked DJ bars.
London - Richmond
Described as on of London's most attractive boroughs, Richmond has been a favourite retreat of Royalty, the rich and the famous for hundreds of years. The River Thames runs through the heart of the borough for 21 miles linking Hampton Court Palace, Richmond town centre and Kew Gardens with central London. With beautiful Royal parks and historic houses, theatres, museums and galleries rich with exhibits and town centres bursting with shops and restaurants, Richmond upon Thames rivals anywhere in London.
Situated midway between Westminster and Windsor,
Richmond is a 18 minute
train journey from London's Waterloo Station. It is also on the
District Line and a 20 minute drive from Heathrow and 10 minutes
from the M4.
For over 800 years courtiers, artists and statesmen
have built their
palaces and beautiful houses; have planted trees and laid out
colourful
gardens, helping the borough to retain the look and feel of the
countryside. Richmond possesses a timeless charm more akin to
a village
than a town.
